How to Submit Student ID Pictures Online

  • Take an identification photo of your face. There are several guidelines that you need to follow to ensure that your picture works with our system and also serves as an appropriate form of identification.
  • Technical Specifications:
    • The photo needs to be in .jpg format.
  • Photo Specifications
    The photo must be:
    • In color. Please do not use any filters (ex: Instagram filters, etc.).

    • A recent picture taken within the last six (6) months.

    • Taken in front of a plain background.

    • One in which your body is oriented vertically, not horizontally.

    • One in which you are alone in the picture with no one else visible.

    • One in which you are looking forward with your eyes open.  You may smile, if you would like.

    • One in which only your head and shoulders are clearly visible (no hands or other items visible in the picture).

    • One in which you are not wearing hats or head covering (unless those items are worn daily for religious purposes, and in such cases those items must not obscure any facial features).

    • Free from glare on eyeglasses (dark glasses are not permitted unless you have a medical reason for them).

    • Taken with sufficient lighting that has no shadows.

  • AI generated photos are not allowed.
  • Email the photo as an attachment to VUPhoto@vinu.edu using your registered email address with VU. Please include the following information in the email:
    • Student Name
    • A#
    • Mailing (Home) Address
  • Photos cannot be processed unless the student includes their A#.
  • Students will be notified via email when their photo has been processed.

How to Get Your Picture Taken On Campus

  • Visit the Shake Learning Resource Center on campus.
  • Once inside the building, speak with the person at the Shake Library Information Desk located on the first floor in the center of the building.
  • Incoming students must be registered for classes and have their A number to have their picture taken.

How You Will Receive Your Blazer One Card

The three items listed below need to take place before your Blazer One Card (student ID) is mailed:

  1. Your picture will need to be taken or emailed as instructed above.
  2. Your mailing (home) address will need to be confirmed.
  3. You will need to schedule your classes.

Once these three items have been completed, your Blazer One Card will be mailed to the confirmed address. Be sure to confirm your address online with your VUX account.

The card will arrive in a green envelope in about 7 to 10 business days after all steps have been completed.

Location & Hours

The office that takes ID pictures is located in Shake Library at the Learning Resource Center, Room 155.

Monday-Friday: 8:00-11:30 AM and 1:30-4:00 PM

Hours are subject to change due to holidays, campus closing, as well as LRC & Library hours.

Faculty & Staff

Faculty, staff, and retired personnel may have an ID card made at the office provided they have their A number.

Faculty/staff dependents and/or spouses need approval from Human Resources before an ID may be made. 

Faculty and staff bringing groups of students to the office for their pictures to be taken should contact the office to schedule a time for the group to visit the office.
